FMA Australia – Ideaction 2010
NIPA was represented by Prof. Margaret Burchett at
this years Ideaction in Perth. Rather than
take a booth NIPA chose to develop a poster which
could be used after the event. The posters are
attached to a wall, the owner stand near and talks
to passers by.
UTS Science also
developed a very attractive and informative brochure
which Margaret handed out.
Download here.
Chris Johnson (TCC)
and Prof. Margaret Burchett in front of poster.
The poster in glorious colour and full size
(90X60cm) is available from NIPA at cost ($45 + GST
+ postage) or
download an A4 version here.
It was good to see
another poster from Ontera Carpet Tiles displaying a
fabulous photo of indoor plants in modern containers
from a new Brisbane job. Almost like a before
and after.

Green Plants for Green
Buildings Presents:
LEED Certified Building Projects
which have successfully earned credits based upon
the inclusion of indoor plants.
Unlike Australia’s Green Star
green building rating system, to date the
USGBC’s LEED system does not yet offer a
specified direct credit for the inclusion of
plant programs. Within the current LEED
section titled “Innovation in Design” it is
possible for plants to be part of a
specially developed use of plants or a the
use of plants within a type of educational
design.
NIPA has published a set of Guidelines for Architects
and Designers. The document is a draft version and
open to comment. It can be found under the Accreditation Menu and
may be downloaded if required.
News today that indoor plants at Parliament House will be removed to save money had morning show
host Peter J Casey pondering the benefits of office
vegetation.
Margaret Burchett from the Department of Environment at

MAINTENANCE STANDARDS
NIPA has published a set of standards for members to
follow. Standards are difficult to develop;
however we have tried to be objective and fare to all.
They can be found under the Accreditation Menu item and
may be downloaded if required.
ACCREDITATION - NOW FOR AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND
The Association is proud to announce that the New
Zealand Indoor Plant Hire industry can now take out NIPA
Accreditation. There is a long standing
association between our two countries and in the future
NZ will be contributing to the NIPA website and news
letter. More details on this relationship will
emerge over the next few months.
